Bank of Ireland is one of 15 European banks that has been downgraded to a negative outlook by ratings agency Standard & Poors.
The agency said that “extraordinary government support is likely to diminish” for European banks as regulators implement resolution frameworks. Earlier this month, the European Parliament signed off on new laws to make it easier for governments to wind down problem banks.
