UPDATE: Irish bank deposits rose €200 million in January, according to the Department of Finance but Central Bank figures show Irish resident private-sector deposits were 7 per cent lower.

Irish bank deposits rose by €200 million in January with overall deposits increasing slightly to just over €147 billion, according to new information from the Department of Finance.

The January figure compared to a rise of €2 billion in December, according to the latest “Deposit trends at Irish covered banks” dataset, which examines AIB (including EBS Building Society), Bank of Ireland, Permanent TSB and IBRC.
