Has working from home had its day? Yahoo boss Marissa Mayer thinks it has, but many disagree. Gareth Naughton reports.

When news of Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer's latest idea to reinvigorate the beleaguered internet corporation - the abolition of working at home - leaked, it was greeted with horror by her staff and raised eyebrows throughout the industry. The move seemed to run counter to current management thinking and negate a family-friendly policy that came under increasing strain as austerity bit.
