When Enda Kenny reshuffled his cabinet, attention focused on the changes of Labour ministers. Former leaders Eamon Gilmore, Pat Rabbitte and Ruairí Quinn all departed. Two of the resulting vacancies were filled by TDs serving their first Dáil term. This prompted ex-minster Rabbitte to comment “I have difficulties with the proposition that in your first Dáil term you ought to be a cabinet minister, and by your second you ought to be Taoiseach.”...
