Profits at Avoca Handweavers more than doubled to €1.53 million in the year to January 2006.

Profits at Avoca Handweavers more than doubled to €1.53 million in the year to January 2006.

Turnover at the family-owned chain of food, design and craft stores increased by 10 per cent to €33.6 million, according to recently filed accounts. The Pratt family has owned the Avoca business, which includes shops selling clothing and accessories, cafes, food halls and a garden centre, since 1974. Retained profits increased to €10.3 million from €8.7 million.
