December is the top month for lost property, according to a new survey.

The average Irish person lost possessions worth a total of €192 in the past 12 months, with smartphones the most common item mislaid, according to a new survey conducted on behalf of a provider of online backup solutions.

Across the country lost property was estimated at more than €440 million, with 43 per cent of those polled losing two or more belongings a year.
