Avensis tops family car segment

The family car segment, the second-largest segment in the Irish new car market, could easily be dubbed the ‘Avensis segment', such is the dominance of Toyota's large family car model.

The family car segment - the second largest segment in the Irish new car market - could easily be dubbed the ‘Avensis segment', such is the dominance of Toyota's large family car model.

The growth of the segment in recent months has continued at a rapid pace.

Volume sales rose from 32,439 to 37,573 in the ten months to the end of October, representing a sizeable 15.8 per cent increase.
