Last week, the new Audi A5/S5 cabriolet range was test-driven in France in quite cold weather.

This brought an immediate appreciation ofthe neck-heater, an improvement on the Air-Scarfidea pioneered in the first Mercedes-Benz SLK. Time allowed only for the 2.0 litre versions to be driven, and the 170bhp TDi model was very acceptable, giving impressive silence and brisk performance.

The car also has a start/stop system.
