This year’s auction market has been characterised by a chronically high level of withdrawals, yet prices continue to soar under the hammer and outside the auction room.

More than 57 per cent of the 963 properties advertised for auction in counties Dublin and Wicklow in 2006 have been withdrawn on auction day, according to an analysis of auction results conducted by The Sunday Business Post.
