A €500 million redevelopment of Athlone is expected to kick-start future growth in business and tourism for the midlands town.

Athlone has a surrounding catchment area of 750,000 people, who have an estimated €1.3 billion in disposable income.

The scheme is being built by Gallico Developments, whose director, John O’Sullivan, is behind the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone, the Galway Bay Hotel and the €150 million Manor Mills shopping centre in Maynooth.
