Aryzta buys German bakery for €280m

UPDATE: Irish-Swiss food group Aryzta has bought leading German baker Klemme in what it described as a “strategic acquisition” that would substantially transform its European footprint.

Aryzta was created through the merger of Dublin-based IAWS Group and Zurich-based Hiestand Holdings in 2008.

Irish-Swiss food group Aryzta has bought leading German baker Klemme in what it described as a “strategic acquisition” that would substantially transform its European manufacturing footprint.

The €280 million deal will greatly enhance Aryzta’s “channel diversification and product capability in the region”, the company said in a statement. ���10 million of this will be deferred and funded with existing financial resources, the company said.
