Author Eoin McNamee novels may deal with gritty subjects, but they're carefully gilded with his studied prose, writes Nadine O'Regan.
I don't write crime fiction as such, Eoin McNamee says, with a wry smile. ''I don't write literary fiction as such. As a writer, you make your own weather. You create your own space. What I try to do is to use crime pacing, if you like, along with the fancy language, so the story carries you through. I don't like to take my reader into a dense thicket of words and abandon them there.
