Used by the artist, bronze, an alloy of copper and tin, has been around for a while. The oldest examples known were cast in South East Asia circa 4500 BC, since when it has never gone out of fashion. Aesthetics apart, it is one of the longest lasting of materials. Circa 3014, the piece that you buy today will still be the pride of someone's collection - possibly displayed somewhere on Mars.
