The Arab League observer mission is expected to end its month-long operation in Syria this week as warnings of civil war mount. Nabil Elaraby, the head of the Arab League, criticised the Syrian government last Friday for not fulfilling its duties as part of a peace plan between the two sides, and warned that the country may be headed for civil conflict.
