The streets surrounding Galway city’s Leisureland sports and leisure complex in Salthill were packed yesterday, but it had little to do with the counting of Lisbon Treaty votes for the Galway West constituency and more to do with the Galway half-marathon.

Outside the sun shone for the runners, while inside the complex more people had turned up to use the swimming pool than to see what Galway thought of the Lisbon Treaty.
