Apple to sell 10 million iPhones over weekend

The world's biggest company is poised to sell up to 10 million iPhone 5 units on its opening weekend.

Apple may sell as many as 10 million iPhones during the weekend sales rush, according to analysts.

The company, which began selling iPhone 5 units in British, French, German, Australian and US stores today, is betting on strong demand to keep its share price above $700.

The iPhone now generates two-thirds of Apple's profit.
