An Post is facing a loss of more than €60 million from falling mail revenues this year.

There is also further doubt over the continuation of a €50 million contract to disperse social welfare payments.

An Post has confirmed that mail volumes fell 7 per cent last year and the company is predicting a further 5 per cent decline by the end of this year, as business and other customers switch en masse to electronic transactions.
