An APR for pensions in Ireland is long overdue
At present, consumers and their advisers do not know the full extent of the charges in a fund, writes Aidan McLoughlin.
The Department of Social Protection is to publish shortly the results of its study into the charges applied to private pension funds. Joan Burton, the Minister for Social Protection, announced the survey in October. Proper, objective research in this area is long overdue.
Although the process is still continuing, the Irish Brokers Association is confident that the report should contain one simple conclusion: neither consumers nor their financial advisers have access to the data needed...
