An all-new Mini gets a mighty makeover

The revamped styling may not be to everyone's taste, but the new Mini is astoundingly good, writes Shane O'Donoghue.

The all-new Mini: the steering is direct, the chassis responds faithfully to input and it's genuinely fun to hustle.

I’m going to get this out of the way from the outset: I’m not entirely convinced by the styling of the all-new Mini. While I realise that the nose had to change shape to comply with forthcoming pedestrian protection legislation, it’s quite bulbous-looking, though saved somewhat by the concept car-like LED-ringed headlights. The rear I’m more comfortable with, though the Mini look has been turned into a bold, sportier caricature of itself in some respects....
