Americans to splurge on Patrick's Day

The average American will spend more than $35 (€26) on St Patrick's Day celebrations this year, ten per cent more than 2011, according to the National Retail Federation.

The average American will spend more than $35 (€26) on St Patrick's Day celebrations this year, ten per cent more than 2011, according to the National Retail Federation.

About $4.6 billion is expected to be spent acros the country, according to BIGinsight’s St Patrick’s Day spending survey.

The survey shows about 54 per cent of respondents plan to celebrate the day.
