American Power Conversion (APC), a multinational firm with operations in Galway and Castlebar, is laying off 30 staff, on top of 250 lay-offs announced in June.

After the latest round of layoffs, the company will have about 380 staff in Ireland, down from 660 four months ago.

Debbie Hancock, the director of investor relations at APC, said that the 30 Irish layoffs were part of a wider company plan to cut 4 per cent of its staff worldwide.
