American artists explore their Irish roots

A ten-week long exhibit ion which starts next week at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny provides a perfect opportunity to admire and buy some unusual craftwork and accessories, all of which have been created by artists with an Irish link.

Titled Wild Geese: The Irish in America, the exhibition, which runs from March 31 to June 10, is one of the gallery’s major events for 2007 and celebrates the Irish roots of major American artists. It will bring together, for the first time, descendants of the Wild Geese as well as Irish-born artists working in the US.

Curated by silversmith and sculptor Kevin O’Dwyer, the exhibition will showcase the work of 20 internationally respected contemporary crafts...
