Online retailing giant Amazon is a potential strategic buyer for BlackBerry, according to a report in the New York Post.

The newspaper quoted sources that said Microsoft may also be a possible suitor despite its partnership with Finnish mobile-phone giant Nokia.

BlackBerry announced yesterday that it's considering putting itself up for sale - the strongest indication yet that the smartphone maker won’t remain independent as competition erodes sales and hammers its share price.
