Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond has said he will stand down in November after losing yesterday's independence referendum.

Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond has said he will stand down in November after losing yesterday's independence referendum.

Salmond said the vote put Scotland in a “very strong position”.

"We now have the opportunity to hold Westminster’s feet to the fire on the vow that they have made to devolve further meaningful power to Scotland," he said.
