UPDATE: Alan Shatter has resigned as Minister for Justice ahead of the publication of Sean Guerin's report into the Garda Whistleblowers controversy.

Alan Shatter has resigned as Minister for Justice.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny informed the Dail chamber this afternoon that Shatter had resigned ahead of the publication of the Guerin Report into the Garda Whistleblowers controversy.

Kenny said that he had accepted Shatter's resignation with "great reluctance".
