AIB to increase variable mortgage rates by 0.4%

Allied Irish Banks says it will increase interest rates on its variable mortgages by as much as 40 basis points, or 0.4 percentage points, from June 5.

The bank said that it doesn’t anticipate further variable rate increases in 2013.

Allied Irish Banks says it will increase interest rates on its variable mortgages by as much as 40 basis points, or 0.4 percentage points, from June 5.

Standard owner-occupier variable rate will rise to 4.4 per cent as a result, the company said in a statement. AIB’s EBS and Haven units’ rates will rise 25 basis points from June 1.
