AIB Merchant Services (AIBMS) has begun rolling out contactless payment terminals, paving the way for contactless card payments and, eventually, contactless payments through smartphones.
The merchant acquirer, which is a joint venture between First Data Corporation and AIB, installed its first contactless terminal at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin this week. Nigel Motyer, general manager at AIBMS said that contactless terminals would be installed across its base of customers in the coming months.
