AIB reports rise in impaired loans, arrears

Impaired loans rose while levels of arrears in the mortgage book increased at both AIB and EBS in the third quarter of 2011, according to AIB's interim management statement.

Impaired loans rose while levels of arrears in the mortgage book increased at both AIB and EBS in the third quarter of 2011, according to AIB's interim management statement.

The bank said its expected bad debt provisions for 2011 would reflect the continued asset quality deterioration.

This should position AIB to reduce its bad debt charge in 2012, the group said.
