AIB has offered formal debt restructuring deals to more than a third of its SME customers, as it seeks to work through its small and medium-sized business portfolio.

AIB has offered formal debt restructuring deals to more than one-third of its struggling SME customers, as it seeks to work though the bank's small and medium-sized business portfolio.

The bank said it had engaged with 90 per cent of "SME cases in difficulty", with offers on "some form of formal restructuring arrangement" made to around 40 per cent of them.
