Ahern pledges tax and PRSI cuts
A comprehensive package of tax reform and reduction was unveiled by the Taoiseach at the Fianna Fail ard fheis in Citywest last night.
In his televised speech, Bertie Ahern promised that if reelected, Fianna Fail would reduce the higher and lower income tax rates by one and two per cent - bringing them to 40 per cent and 18 per cent - guaranteed that tax bands and credits would be indexed, and, most dramatically of all, cut the employees’ rate of PRSI in half, from four per cent to two per cent.
