Older people have raised major concerns about the government's proposals for universal health insurance (UHI), and have called for an independent ''health connector to be established to help those over 65 choose appropriate health insurance products.

A public consultation on the government's UHI proposals closed at the end of May, with the Department of Health receiving 125 submissions.
