After the budget, government needs a new sense of purpose

Budget 2013 may have kept the show on the road, but a vital year now lies ahead as our bailout cash starts to run out.

It is becoming increasingly clear just how difficult it was to agree last week's budget between the two government parties. In the end, the budget was a product of compromises which were laboriously thrashed out between the two sides.
