Passenger traffic at Aer Lingus jumped 12.2 per cent in April compared to the same month in 2013, according to new data from the airline.

The strong performance was helped by the timing of Easter, which fell in March in 2013, and the year to date rise in passenger numbers was a more modest 2.1 per cent.
