Senior Aer Lingus management figures from head office were in Dublin, Shannon and Cork last Friday preparing to announce cuts of up to €100 million to their staff.

But the announcement was halted after a lengthy board meeting failed to reach agreement on the cost-cutting plan. It is understood that the management’s plan was to make an announcement initially to the stock exchange - after which they intended to address airline staff in Dublin, Cork...
