Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has described a poll on the future of the border between the North and the Republic as "inevitable".

The Republican leader made his comments yesterday in response to remarks last week in the House of Commons by Northern Ireland Secretary of State Owen Paterson dismissing the possibility that such a vote would ever take place.
