The Mayo farmer acquitted of the manslaughter of Traveller John Ward last Thursday is worried that there will be a revenge attack against him, according to a close friend.

Padraig Nally, a 62-year-old bachelor farmer from Cross in Co Mayo, admitted shooting and beating Ward, who was living in Co Galway at the time, when Ward entered his farmyard in October 2004, fearing that he would be robbed and attacked.
