Abortion: Legislation will help doctors

The government's bill goes some way to clarifying the legal position for doctors regarding abortion, but continued misrepresentation of the issue does not help, writes Dr Peter Boylan.

The Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill 2013 was drafted in response to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) judgment of December 2009 that there had been a violation by the state of the rights of a woman, C, under Article 8 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
