A division is brewing between Labour and Fine Gael over abortion, with forthcoming legislation on the issue unlikely to satisfy many Labour TDs.

The government has committed to legislate on the basis of a forthcoming report on Ireland's abortion laws, but a government minister indicated last week that the report was unlikely to recommend substantial liberalisation of the highly restrictive abortion regime.
