A stormy political autumn

Three big things will dominate what will be a congested political season, writes Pat Leahy.

Predictions are deadly dangerous in the age of Google, but what the heck, here's one: politics in the autumn and for much of the rest of the year will be dominated by three big things. They are the October 4 referendum on the future of the Seanad, the October 15 budget, and the exit from the bailout.

There will be many unanticipated and unforeseen troubles for the coalition government, to be sure; there will be many "crisis"...
