A responsibility to the community

The recession is pushing corporate social responsibility to the back of the business agenda, but firms with an eye on long-term sustainability know it should be embraced, writes Catherine O’Mahony

Insurance group Allianz has earned its corporate social responsibility (CSR) stripes in this country. ] There’s a green element to its recently-built headquarters off Dublin’s Merrion Road; it features a natural air-conditioning system that is 70 per cent more energy-efficient than most systems, and which was built to reflect the insurer’s global sustainability ethos.
