A long, long walk to freedom

An annual pilgrimage follows the route taken by Art O'Neill and Red Hugh O'Donnell in a daring escape from Dublin city centre to the Wicklow hills. Roisin Finlay rose to the challenge.

Who knew there were so many people so inclined to suffer? This is the thought that goes through my mind as I set out at midnight on Friday, January 13 to tackle the Great Outdoors Art O'Neill Challenge. I'm in the company of roughly 500 people who will travel by foot from Dublin Castle to Glenmalure, over the Dublin mountains.
