Construction workers in need of a job should take the plunge in the Canadian market, writes Abigail Fulton.

Skill shortages have been a concern in British Columbia for more than a decade, as well as a significant curb on its growth. They eased somewhat with the economic downturn of 2009, but have returned now that major infrastructural projects are getting under way in the north of the province.

When retirements are taken into account, the Construction Sector Council conservatively estimates that we will need at least 20,000 skilled workers to meet labour market demand...
