More than 60,000 public servants became eligible to apply for early retirement last Friday under the scheme announced by Brian Lenihan, the Minister for Finance, in last month’s supplementary budget.

More than 60,000 public servants became eligible to apply for early retirement last Friday under the scheme announced by Brian Lenihan, the Minister for Finance, in last month’s supplementary budget. Almost a third of the civil service will be eligible to apply. Public servants who are over 50 years of age can apply for early retirement until September 1.
