Ireland will now definitely get an extension of the repayment period on €40 billion borrowed from the EU as part of our bailout, after approval of the measure by EU finance ministers late yesterday morning.

The agreement, the operational details of which have still to be worked out, came as part of a long night of negotiations on a €10 billion bailout of Cyprus which has controversially seen bank depositors hit for the first time...
