Ulster Bank could close up to 40 branches in Ireland as part of a restructuring plan for the business here.

RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland), Ulster Bank's parent company, will make a major announcement next Thursday on the future of its global operations. RBS group chief executive Ross McEwan is expected to reveal plans for a closures of some businesses, and a downsizing of other operations, across the group.
