4 in 10 children removed by Gardai were returned home
The Child and Family Agency was notified of 402 Section 12 interventions relating to 398 individual children in 2013.
Four in every ten children who were removed from their homes by Gardaí using the same emergency legislation used in the high-profile Roma cases were immediately returned to their homes last year.
The Child and Family Agency said it was notified of 402 Section 12 interventions relating to 398 individual children in 2013.
The agency said 42 per cent (169 of the 398),“were returned home without further intervention and 58 per cent were admitted into care”.
