€3,000 PRSI ‘holiday’ lure

The government is set to launch a €36 million scheme to encourage firms to take on full-time staff, writes Niamh Connolly, Political Correspondent

Anew €36 million PRSI holiday scheme for employers who create new jobs this year is to be launched by the government next month.

The scheme will mean companies will save about €3,000 per new employee and is aimed at encouraging employers to recruit before December.

Already five months overdue, the one-year PRSI exemption was announced in last December’s budget and the government has been criticised for the delay in its introduction.
