German immigrant Wolf Blass established a template for the large branded wines for which Australia is now famous. The De Bortoli family have followed this template since establishing their family business on the continent in 1928. Theirs is one of the biggest winemaking firms in Australia. However, they had a breakthrough in the 1990s with the sweet wine, Noble One.
