228 days were lost to industrial disputes in the first quarter of 2013, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office.

This compares with one dispute for the same period last year involving 75 workers and resulting in 161 days lost. Nevertheless, the first quarter is till down considerably on the same quarters in 2011 and 2010, when 2,500 days and 4,000 days were lost respectively.

The figures pre-date the strike at Bus Eireann earlier this week.
