An Irish bidder on internet auction site eBay last week paid stg£10,100 (€15,053) for medals belonging to a 1916 veteran and his wife.
An Irish bidder on internet auction site eBay last week paid stg£10,100 (€15,053) for medals belonging to a 1916 veteran and his wife.
The medals were those issued to H Bates of the 3rd Battalion, commemorating his role in the 1916 Rising and the War of Independence. His wife’s medal was for Red Cross service during the Emergency and would be less valuable.
